Muswellbrook Shire in the beautiful Upper Hunter, it is as 'Blue Heeler Country'. Tourists know the Upper Hunter mainly for its premium white wine but the rich farmland, rolling pasture; rocky outcrops, sandstone cliffs and small hills rising precisely from vineyards are very attractive. The farms produce fodder crops, stud cattle, horses, sheep and dairy products, and open-cut coal mining is a major industry.

The marvellous town Muswellbrook has risen up many famous people. The clever Journalist Donald Horne started his career in Muswellbrook and has now sold hundreds of thousands of books. Shayne Hayne, a well-respected Rugby League Referee, ran around Muswellbrook with a footy in hand. Shayne is now the leading referee in State of Origin and Test matches. You could say Muswellbrook changed his life. Another Rugby League legend Jamie Feeney grew up in the awesome town of Muswellbrook. He played for the Canterbury Bulldogs first grade side. In his later years he became a coach for the bulldogs club. PGA Golfer Kurt Barnes started his obsession with golf at a very young age while he was roaming the farms of Muswellbrook. Many people would argue that without the ditches and holes in the farms of Muswellbrook he would not be where he is now. Thank God For Muswellbrook. James Clifford, an Australian artist, was born and raised here in Muswellbrook. He devoted his life to singing and song writing. A less famous artist in Muswellbrook inspired him. As I said before without Muswellbrook many starts would not have been made. Arguably the most famous person that came out of Muswellbrook was Simon Orchard. Simon is a star at hockey and is a medallist in the London 2012 Olympic games.
